Stops, in order

The day

  1. photo

    Boulder Mountain summit (Aquarius Plateau)

9,600 ft. Climbing out of Torrey on SR-12, pull out at the overlook for the panorama south toward Escalante.

  2. optional scenic

    Calf Creek Recreation Area

Steep, narrow paved descent from the Hogback into the Escalante River canyon. Hike to Lower Calf Creek Falls if dropping the rig is feasible (6 mi round-trip).

  3. photo with care

    The Hogback Caution

Knife-edge ridge of SR-12 east of Boulder, narrow, no shoulders, 1,000-ft drops on both sides. Slow and steady with the trailer. Don't stop on the road; pull out at the marked vista.

  4. scenic

    Escalante / Anasazi State Park

Tiny museum, reconstructed Anasazi pueblo. Quick stop. Town of Escalante itself is worth a walk.

  5. photo

    Powell Point overlook

SR-12 south of Escalante. The white-pink cliffs across the valley are Grand Staircase-Escalante NM.

  6. must do

    Bryce Canyon NP, Sunset Point

First view of the hoodoo amphitheater. Walk the rim trail north to Sunrise Point if you have an hour.

  7. sleep

    Cannonville KOA

Plug in NEMA 14-50, second night of "trickle and recover."

Charging plan

Where the electrons come from

  • L2 NEMA 14-50

Bryce Canyon Pines (L2 at campground)

No DCFC near Bryce. L2 at the campground is the play, overnight to 100%. Day-trips to Bryce burn ~30 mi.
